“How to Experience the Presence of God”

In some ways, experiencing God’s presence is like sailing. With patience and practice, you can learn to sense and make the most of gentle stirrings and, in doing so, be carried to stronger winds. This is one dimension of “Seeking the Lord.” We are also told to “Taste and see that the Lord is good,” and so we must learn to actively “savour” our times in the Lord’s presence. Being in his presence can bring friendship, joy, peace, rest, courage, strength, protection, repentance and transformation. Things that can be helpful to finding his presence include worship, restful experiences, Bible reading, the quiet of night, and the company and words of other believers (where two or three are gathered in his name).
